Life is all about choices! Each Christmas record amounts are spent at the shops and I wonder how much happier we feel for it all by the end of January. What we sometimes do notice is the pain of that credit card statement that comes in. You may have bought your presents already but if you haven’t why not try something different this year in how you spend your money. Write down all the people you’ll buy presents for and a budgeted amount for each of them then add up the total. Go to an ATM and withdraw the total that you added up in cash (hopefully it’s under the $1000 daily ATM limits!!!) – maybe even withdraw $50 or $100 extra just in case. Carry this amount around with you in one of those zip-lock plastic bags, bring the written list too so you know what you committed to spending on each person. Then the hard part – stick to it!
Few people you buy presents for are going to care if you spent slightly more or less on them as it really is more the thought that does count.
Try something different this year, small changes made on a regular basis make for a massive difference in the future.
